11 more reasons to love your dog

DSC_0424_high-res

Studies have shown a dog feels his purpose in life is to please his pack leader who in this case is you!  Basically, your dog is happy when you are happy.  If only I could find a human mate like that! :)  Whether we want to admit it or not we need affection to feel loved.  And, no other animal or human is going to give you as many hugs and kisses to show his affection for you. Dog owners have shown lower depression and blood pressure rates.  Well, that points back to my previous statement…with all of those hugs and sloppy kisses…how can you possibly be depressed or angry!

Studies have also shown that as dog owners we tend to be in better shape. Since they make us take them for walks or make us get up and throw the ball.  Go on hiking trails.  When clearly I would rather just be sitting and watching my favorite movie for the 10th time.   For all of us that would rather file our toe nails than exercise…at least our beloved pooches get us up on our feet and be active!
This one is for all of the shy folks out there.  Having a dog helps you to go out and about.  You ever notice every time you are out with your dog, people are always stopping and talking to you.  For a shy person this is great because they don’t have to make the initial conversation.  It gets a shy person out of their bubble.  And of course they are the perfect wing man or woman to help you talk to that person you have your eyes on!

Guess what?  With your dog you never have to eat alone!  Am I right?? They expect you to share everything you are eating.  They give you that look of those sad puppy dog eyes literally as if to say, how can you be so mean and not share!  You are always teaching your two legged children to share and now you are not following your own advice.  Then they just stare at you until they break you!

Dogs will literally treat their owners as if they were family because of the inherent nature of dogs being pack animals. The dog will see you, his owner, as the leader of the pack and everyone else as a member of that pack.  As studies have confirmed, dogs can read our emotions. In fact, dogs remain the only non-human animals who scan the left side of our faces when they look at us. This is something that humans do in order to read another person’s emotion.

If you children have left home and the place seems kind of empty, think about getting a dog. Dogs provide a great level of companionship so that it is almost impossible to feel lonely with one around the house.  Of course we would prefer to adopt from an animal shelter or dog rescue.  None of us are perfect and this is also true for dogs. Like us, they often make mistakes and end up with accidents on the carpet or a chewed rug, etc.   They teach us how to forgive and forget which maybe more helpful in our own lives.

Last but not least my dog literally prepared me for motherhood.  Before I had Buddyboy a.k.a. Bubba my Yellow Lab, I only thought about one person and that’s me!  I was very self absorbed and selfish with my time.  Along came Bubba…a 7 week lab puppy!  He of course, stole my heart and I realized he put me in a very unselfish place.  My social calendar definitely changed!  All of a sudden his needs to survive were more important than mine.  Well, survival for me was to make sure I get to meet my friends for drinks after work!  Obviously he couldn’t fend for himself.  Crying all night because he didn’t want to be in his crate.  Waking up in the middle of the night to take him to potty.  He needed me to raise him, discipline him, feed him, clean up after him, basically all the things I do for my little girl.  He really got me ready for the roller coaster of motherhood!  So dogs teach us so much and they really and truly are unconditional love at it’s best….

What do you mean I’m not human?

people too

So, let’s talk about 6 surprising and fun facts about our four legged loves!  I don’t know about you but my three dogs rule the house!  I always say they live here and I just pay the bills.  When my daughter was a toddler it was literally like dealing with 4 two year olds!  Demanding, loud and self-absorbed.  Wait..that kind of sounds like me! :) Anyways, only difference was my three pooches knew when Mama was mad and ready to give spankings so they behaved.  My two year old daughter not so much.  Well, there’s a reason why dogs act so similar to toddlers because that leads me into our first fact.  A dog’s mental state is the same as a 2 yr old toddler.  Both understand about the same number of gestures and words which is around 200.  If only I could have potty trained my daughter in a month like my pups!

Ever notice pooches have an internal alarm clock.  They have no problem letting you know when it’s their time for  dinner or a walk etc.  They have their schedule down and you better not mess with it!  They are very verbal about it.  I think everyone knows what I am talking about.  Yes, dogs have a sense of time.  They pick up on our habits.  And they are a stickler for routines.  Contrary to popular belief they are not like us in the sense of hating routine. They are perfectly content with eating the same thing everyday at the same time.  They love it!  They don’t want any surprises other than you walking in that door.  :) <3

My daughter asked me the other day why do dogs have whiskers?  I told her to see in the dark.  Believe it or not their whiskers pick up on subtle changes in air currents which gives them information on the speed, size and shape for objects nearby.  So they don’t need light like we do to see.  This is something they got from their wolf ancestors to better sense dangers or prey.  Of course now she wants to be cat woman on Halloween so she can have whiskers and see which house is giving her the “yuckie” candy as she puts it!

So, how do dogs sweat if they have fur?  Through their paws.  Their sweat glands are between their paws.  It’s good to wet the bottom of their feet if you are outside on a hot day.  Dogs pant as a way to cool down.  It’s their way of sweating.

Did you know dogs can hear 4 to 5 times as far as we do.  Pups are born deaf but they definitely surpass our hearing abilities quickly.  They can hear high pitched sounds with a frequency range of 67 to 45,000 cycles per second.  Our range is from 64 to 23,000.  Now you know why your dog gets up and starts barking for no reason!  He hears something that you don’t!  But, they are like humans in the sense that their hearing ability decreases as we age.  Oh and by the way, I’m sure you know dogs can definitely smell better than us.  A dog’s sense of smell is 1,000 to 10 million times better than yours.  Kind of glad about that one…who wants to smell everything all day!  :)

Lastly but not least.  My favorite pooch fact!  Our four legged fur balls can smell our feelings… awwww!  They pick up on changes in your scent, which helps him figure out how you are feeling such as nervous or fearful.  That’s probably also how dogs can detect certain diseases in humans.  When I was pregnant my pooches knew it!  They probably knew way before I did.  Now if only they could talk human!  They could have saved me from sitting in the waiting room of the doctor’s office for two hours! :)

Can I crash at your pad for a little while??

ladybug-pic - Copy post 4

One of the biggest issues that dog shelters and rescues have is over population.  Ever thought about fostering a shelter or rescue pet?  I remember my first foster.  She was a 2  year old three legged blood hound mix with the sweetest of dispositions and defiance!  Much like my own two legged daughter! :) Her broken leg is a sad story in itself caused by a person so I won’t even go there!  She had been at the rescue shelter for a very long time and no one was adopting her because of her disability. Which I totally don’t get!  What does it matter!  Dogs adapt to any situation they have been given much like children.  Okay so she didn’t walk…she hopped.  My sweet, sweet Ladybug was the inspiration to create Puppy Luv Glam.  Everyone that knew me knew Ladybug.  She was probably the only pooch that could do her business on other people’s lawns and my neighbors would say “oh..that’s just Ladybug.”  She definitely knew how to work her handicap.  One day she walked out of my house through the garage without me knowing it.  She than strolled over to my neighbor’s house through the garage and decided to do her business in his bedroom.  He caught her red handed!  The joke in the neighborhood was she was faking the whole leg thing to get sympathy.  And when no one is around she walks perfectly fine! :)

Unfortunately, there aren’t enough shelter adoptions to compensate for freeing up room to take in more unwanted and abused animals.  The shelter pets are either (hopefully) relocated, or more likely, euthanized due to overcrowding in animal shelters.  Even today, close to 50% or more of the animals that enter a shelter are euthanized.  (Thus, this is why we encourage adopting from rescue shelters and spaying and neutering your pets.)  Although, there is a solution.  If you feel volunteering and helping animals is a passion you would like to fulfill then consider fostering a shelter dog.  The shelter will cover your expenses for food and vet care.  They will remain in close contact with the foster home to ensure the pet is settling in to a loving and safe environment.  The shelter or rescue will work with the foster home caregivers regarding any issues or concerns that may arise.  And to help should an emergency arise at the foster home, and provide the fosters assistance, when necessary.  Your responsibility would be to give the pooch a loving home.  I know most people say that how do I not get attached to the dog?  I will want to keep it.  Well, here’s the thing you need to keep in mind…once your foster gets adopted than you are able to take in another dog that doesn’t have room to stay in the shelter.  Obviously, if you have fallen madly in love with your foster pooch than it’s obvious you can adopt your rescue.  And, of course you are still helping the shelter!

So why should you become a foster parent to a pooch in need?  Fostering a dog is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have (other than adopting, of course). By taking an animal in need temporarily into your home you’re freeing up a spot so the shelter or rescue can take in another dog. Giving your foster dog the time he needs to be ready for adoption.  You are helping the shelter or rescue learn more about the dog so he can end up in the best home possible.  Socializing the dog to a home environment and possibly getting him used to being around other pets and different types of people.

The process is very simple.  You can contact your local shelter such as The Humane Society or local rescue groups.  You will have to fill out a foster application.  This is more for formality and to see what sort of dog personality fits your lifestyle.  And of course to see if you are ready to take on this responsibility and go over all the necessary information.  If at anytime the foster parent feels it is not working out for them, then the shelter will relinquish the responsibility from the foster household. Fostering a dog may seem like a tough and time consuming task, but it’s a very tangible way to make a difference. Everyone benefits.  The foster volunteer gets to spend time with a dog that is in great need and the kennel gets space for a new dog. The foster dog gets a break from kennel life and a chance to become a loving pet.  The new owners get a dog that is better adapted to home life and has a better chance of remaining in the new home permanently.  So, hopefully we have given you something to think about!

Are you a good candidate to adopt a dog?

Christy-Pink-Lav bridget-meg kayla picdogs-on-boat

So, let’s talk about adopting a dog.  One of the biggest misconceptions out there is that rescues and shelters will just adopt out to any willing body.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.  When I am working a pet adoption site we do have to tell people from time to time that they are not a good fit to adopt a pet at this point in their life.  If your idea of giving a dog a good home is to just leave it in the backyard all day and all night.  Justifying it by saying well I go out there to feed him and play with him for a little while… “He’s getting fed and has shelter”.  I really need to communicate this to all the folks out there that really believe that….dogs are domesticated animals.  Which simply means they can live as humans do and are similar in needing to be social.  They are not cows or goats that graze all day and are content doing so.  Dogs need human stimulation.  So if you don’t want the responsibility of raising a dog in the house or dealing with its shedding etc. than you are probably not a good candidate.  And that is fine.  You are being honest.  We like that!

We also get a lot of pregnant couples that want to adopt a dog.  Why would you want to bring another life to take care of when you are going to be consumed with the life you just created?  I know this from first hand experience.  Don’t bring that kind of stress on to yourself and the adopted pooch.  Or, well I want to adopt a dog so my child can learn responsibility.  A child cannot raise another child.  Because that pet is a child itself that needs a parent to raise and nurture.  If you are not ready to make a pet an equal extension of you or your family than you shouldn’t adopt.  I realize this thought comes very natural to me because I have always had a better connection with animals than people.  I have very few people that I truly let into my life but any animal is always welcome. :)  But trust me I have made my share of mistakes in adopting a pooch when I had no place in doing so!  You live and you learn.

Another reason a person may not be a good fit is obvious.  If you are out of your house more than you are in it, yes you  are not a good fit.  Once again dogs are social animals.  Probably the most social.  So they are unhappy when you leave them alone all day and nights in the house.  Once in a while is okay but not all the time.  I have a lot of college students that want to adopt, the last thing a college student needs is a living four legged creature to take of!  If they are anything like I was in school my day consisted of ….classes in the day,  which party am I going to tonight or who am I hanging out with and what do I wear!  And doing it all over again the next day.  Since I had such a love of animals, I really wanted a dog when I was finally on my own in school.  I am a Miami native and we always had dogs growing up in my house.  They even went out on the boat with us on the ocean.  So, I yearned for that same kind of companionship.  How selfish was I??  Basically, I wanted a dog around when I was home because I couldn’t find anything else to do.  So I just wanted companionship on my terms which is wrong on every level.  For that matter we are also guilty of doing that with people also.  In saying this, yes I should have never even thought about taking in a life to take care of when I was so self-absorbed with my own life.  I thought well I can help out my friend and adopt her puppy since she isn’t around much to do it.  Wrong!  Really?  Why did I think I can do it when I was with her every time we went out and got home late.  Just because you get to college doesn’t make you smart! :)  I realize there are exceptions to every rule.  So I am sure there are college students that are responsible pet owners.

I know most of us come from a very good place and want to adopt and help.  But just remember you are taking in a living creature, making a commitment to always give love, medical care, companionship and finally make sacrifices because that living thing cannot live without you.  So you really have to be in a very unselfish place in your life because taking care of another living thing is just as important as taking care of yourself.   Ummm….come to think of it….it’s a lot like when I was pregnant with my baby girl and I had to make a lot of lifestyle changes, sacrifices and get in a very unselfish place in my life! :)

How do I love thee… let me count the ways

    APR 209251

So, let’s talk about the different behaviors of a dog that show us love. You may be surprised at some of them!  If you are a dog lover or an animal lover in general than you know by now they possess feelings and emotions in their own sort of way.  Believe it or not dogs have been our constant companion for thousands of years.  The dog is probably the most social and that’s why no other animal has a closer relationship to humans.  We call them man’s best friend or woman’s best friend for good reason!

1) If there’s one thing you can count on your dog is that you can count on your dog! Dogs are the most loyal creatures on earth. Dogs are a descendant of wolves. Loyalty comes from wolves. Despite the term “alpha male” implying that a male wolf rules over his pack, the fact is that wolves mate for life, and mating pairs share responsibility in running their packs offspring. Living as part of a nuclear family unit is built into your dog’s instincts, which is what makes them so loyal and such terrific pets.

2) We think a tail wagging is a sign of friendliness or happiness.  Not all the time.  A dog’s tail wagging tells us a lot about emotions.  Such as fear, tension, happiness etc.  Usually, if your pooch is happy she will wag her tail with her whole butt back and forth or in circles.  The more relaxed the tail wagging, the more relaxed she is and happy.

3) How about when a dog follows you around everywhere you go, it’s just his social thing.  They are pack animals.  They don’t like to be alone. It doesn’t really occur to your dog to seek out “alone time.” It doesn’t cross his mind to want to be apart from you. His devotion means that wherever you are, that’s where he wants to be.  Awww!  In saying that get a dog instead of a significant other!  Lot less grief! :)

3) Licking your face….dogs lick people’s faces for a few different reasons, but in most cases it’s a sign of love and affection.  A dog may also lick you in a submissive way, to let you know that he is not a threat. And of course, your licking dog may also simply be grooming you. Dogs groom each other as a gesture of intimacy when a solid bond is in place, so you can definitely take grooming as a sign of love from your pooch!  Either that or he thinks you need to take a bath!

4) Jumping up on you is a sign of it’s affection also.  As annoying as it is and we all want to train the dog to stop, especially when you are wearing your favorite black dress!  It is instinct to them.  As a puppy, a dog learns to lick its mother’s face and eyes. That’s why your dog jumps on you. It wants to lick your face because it recognizes you as its “parent.”

5) A bit of roughhousing is your dog’s natural way of playing and showing affection. It’s healthy, but also a necessary part of your dog’s social development.  It plays a role in forming a bond between your dog and you. Sometimes roughhousing can go too far, so teach your dog that playing around shouldn’t be too rough: no barking, biting or swiping. Let him be aware that you are not a dog like him.

6) As I said, dogs are a descendant of wolves. Wolves, are social creatures that live in family packs. Dogs are wired to be social also. When the important role you play in your dog’s life quickly becomes apparent to him, you become his “pack leader.” You are the most important individual your dog has, and he looks to you for guidance, approval, companionship and love.  He wants you to be his pack leader, that is true love to a dog.

7) In the wild, wolves in packs sleep curled up together, since the wolf is an ancestor of dogs their behavior is the same to curl up with each other.  You are your dog’s best friend and family, it’s only natural that she expects to be able to hop up on the bed and sleep up against you.  I have a 110 lb lab that has been sleeping with me since he was 6 weeks old.  Well I decided to get a dog bed for him….he just looked at me as if to say “You sleep in that dog bed lady!  Needless to say he is still in my bed but on the upside he is the best snuggler! :)  What can I say…I sleep with dogs!  If you want your dog to sleep in a dog bed than don’t even think about letting him up on the bed.  Because to him it is natural to sleep beside you.

8) Does your dog lean against you?  In your dog’s mind it’s a sign of affection. It’s a way of both showing you attention and asking for your attention. So, just take a moment to sit down and let her know you love her back.  We all need some reassurance sometimes! :)

Hopefully, this gave you a little more insight about your best friend.  Just remember when the going gets tough…your pooch will always be there for you!

Simple t-shirt into a fashion statement?

PLG4020-1PLG2018PLG1020 - CopyIMG_5095-1000-webbl ashley grey dolmanPLG3014PLG4014PLG2012
If you are not familiar with our company you should know the whole reason for our inspired existence is to support adopting from dog rescues and shelters.  In saying that we also love fun fashion.  So, how to make a simple t-shirt a fashion statement?  That’s easy…just add some glitz and glam to it!  T-shirt type apparel has been around forever.  It’s the easiest thing to put on when you are in a rush or just want to lounge.  This is why we decided to create a logo and put it on casual apparel.  Everyone wears casual shirts and what better way to bring awareness to adopting rescue and shelter dogs than by wearing it!  No more big boxy plain white t-shirts!  Thank goodness!  Now t-shirts have become a statement in themselves.  Brands like Nike, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfigure and the list goes on and on have t-shirt apparel .  A lot of the big designers want to cater to the general public and make very casual type fashion clothing.   Modern day t-shirts are embellished with glitter, rhinestones and just about anything you want to show off that’s an important part of your world.  And there are so many ways you can dress them up or just wear them with a pair of your favorite jeans and boots.  How do you dress up your favorite dolman style t-shirt, fitted t-shirt  or crop shirt?  We call it the “casual glam” look.  In our case it would be a “Spoiled and Fabulous” shirt :) and I would just tie a sequence scarf or any scarf with a sparkle on the bottom of the shirt around my hip.  Or, put on a faux leather vest over your shirt…leather vests make every outfit look cool and glam!  Or pair it with color jeans.  How about a t-shirt dress?  Just put a fitted belt around your waist or you can do a loose belt for a more casual look.  You can boho chic the t-shirt outfit by pairing it with a long maxi skirt and a floppy hat.  How about your pint size fashionista?  You can’t just send her in a t-shirt and jeans to school.  If she is anything like her Mommy, she has to accessorize!  Pair a jean mini skirt and leggings with that t-shirt.  How about a tutu, leggings and cute high top sneakers with the t-shirt?  That’s my favorite look.  As a manner of fact, I still wear that look! Well, maybe not the tutu but the jean mini skirt with leggings.  When you pair a casual type shirt with some accessories…now you have a statement outfit.  Use scarfs, boots, belts, hats etc.  The shirt and jeans look is your own fashion statement by adding your style to it.  When I wear my Puppy Luv Glam shirt people are always saying your shirt is so adorable and it looks so cute with that belt and boots!  Or if I wore it with a scarf tied around my hip.  If I wear the “Spoiled and Fabulous” t-shirt dress as a bathing suit cover up people are always asking me where did I get that cute cover up?  Check out the images on this blog post and get some ideas of your own!  So think outside the big boxy t-shirt and make your own fashion statement!

Are you dog breed specific?

Two dogs playing happily playing together cute-puppies65 dog-walker2 IMG_9822

I do understand that many people are Daschound lovers, Boxer lovers or Yorkshire Terrier lovers etc. because you get attached to that specific personality and look of the breed.  Pretty much every breed has their own fan base.  Yes, even I have a favorite pure breed, the Labrador Retriever.  It’s like having a 100 pound 2 yr old child with floppy years.  If you have one you know exactly what I am talking about!  And, yes he was purchased from a breeder.  He was a surprise present from my hubby when we first met.  An eight week old yellow lab puppy with a big red bow around his neck at my doorstep.  It was love at first sight.  But, being a rescuer this was against all of my principals.  Although at that moment I was just head over heels in love with this little fur ball and being mad at my husband didn’t cross my mind.  Once the excitement wore off I contacted the breeder and talked to him extensively about his breeding process.  I realized his love for labs was genuine and it wasn’t just a business.  So, there are responsible dog breeders who are truly dog lovers.

So, let’s talk about backyard breeders.  Backyard breeders are in it for the money only and don’t care about the dog’s welfare.  There is no love for the animal and it’s just about the dollar signs.  It’s basically an ignorant person who thinks they can make a quick buck.  They will breed incestuously which causes a lot of behavior issues with the pup.  Forget about giving the new born pup shots, proper care or sufficient nurturing.  Because “Mama dog” is already on to having the next litter. It is beyond sick in my world.  Don’t even get me started on puppy mills!  But, the problem is the back yard breeders and puppy mills won’t stop because there are plenty of customers willing to pay a cheaper price to get that special breed.  Remember buying a living thing isn’t like going to Wal-mart and getting the lowest price for the product.   We definitely need laws and legislation for breeders.  As of today there is absolutely nothing concrete.  Breeders will never go away.  Because there will always be a need for them because of demand.  What I am trying to get across are two things.  If you want a specific breed than do your homework on the pet shop or the breeder.  Ask questions and go to the facility to see how they treat their animals.  Don’t just buy a puppy on the internet and have them flown to your city.  It happens all the time!  If you go to the breeder’s place and you get a sick feeling about the conditions than contact the ASPCA or the local authorities.  You will be able to tell if this person is a “backyard” breeder.  The second thing I am trying to get across is if you have a dog than chances are you don’t mind getting a second dog.  Trust me it’s a lot easier than having a second kid! :)

Do your part and adopt a rescue as your second pooch.  If you are adamant about adopting another one of the same breed than there are plenty of breed specific rescues.  You can do a search on the internet and find them.  2.7 million cats and dogs get euthanized every year in the US because there aren’t enough homes.  Let’s put those backyard breeders out of business!!  All of the images you see of dogs in this blog post are from people who got a pure bread and also adopted a shelter dog.  So in saying that, dogs are like potato chips….you can’t just have one!  Adopt a rescue too!

Celebrities adopting rescue shelter dogs

Let’s face it, we all like looking into the celebrity world and reading all the hot juicy gossip.  Whether we want to admit it or not!  I will admit it is one of my guilty pleasures.  Well, it’s better than eating 5 glazed Dunkin Donuts at midnight when I am bored on a Friday night.  Can you say zero calories!  My point is we are all intrigued and curious about their lifestyles.  And, they can influence our thought process especially when it is a positive thing.  Such as celebs adopting rescue and shelter animals.  They certainly have the money to go to a breeder or high end pet shop but they chose to adopt a rescue dog.  Charlize Theron has rescued 8 dogs over the years.  Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Sandra Bullock, and the list goes on and on.  Miranda Lambert is so passionate about rescue animals that she even created a non-profit organization called The Muttnation Foundation.  I just really wish the tabloids would take more pics of them with their rescue pooches instead of a Starbucks coffee cup in their hand.  Who cares about the coffee cup!  I have to admit when I saw pics of Ryan Reynolds and Ryan Gosseling with their rescue pooches I had to stop what I was doing!  All of a sudden they were on a much higher level than just sexy!

Now a days celebrities influence everything from fashion, hairstyles to vacation spots.  And the public loves it.  Well, how about putting that celebrity influence to good use like adopting rescue animals.  It only seems natural.  I say let’s get celebs to talk about their rescue and shelter pet adoptions!  I think next time Barbara Walters interviews someone famous she should ask if they have an adopted dog! :)  People love to talk about their pets just much as their kids.  Yes we want to know who Ryan Gosling is dating but we also want to know how he is such a sweet guy that he adopted a homeless dog.  The sad truth is 2.7 million homeless animals (dogs and cats) are euthanized each year in the US.  I guess my point is if celebrities start voicing how much of an advocate they are about adopting rescue and shelter dogs than I really think adoption numbers would be higher and higher for homeless animals.  Because of course, everything that celebs experience is so cool that we want to be just like them!

Spoiled and Fabulous Rescue Dogs

vicks3 APR 209515

Happy 2015!  Our first blog post…it took us a while but we finally got our blog going!  So our belief is to focus on the positive of finding loving homes for rescue and shelter dogs.  I have rescued stray, abused animals since I was a teen and it is certainly something in my blood.  Talk to any rescue or shelter volunteer and you will see they have the strongest emotional strength.  But, it all gets to us eventually.  We have all seen those ads and know the plight of these animals.  Most of us can’t even watch the entire ad without having a tear drop.  So, instead of thinking the worst we want to shed light on the good. Our goal is to bring awareness to the public to adopt rescue and shelter pets and show the positive outcome. In fact, our logo and company was inspired by this very thought.  Rescue a pooch – so they can live a spoiled and fabulous life!  But we also wanted to add some glitz and glam and fashion to this inspiration. You can definitely capture a much larger audience through fashion!

So let’s talk rehab for these pooches!  I know there are some folks that are hesitant to adopt a rescue or shelter dog because they feel they are broken or harmful.  Well, then that leads me to the dogs in Michael Vick’s fighting ring.  Remember that guy?  Best Friends Animal Society was one of the animal welfare groups that rescued 22 dogs out of the 51 pit bulls found on the property.  Many more were saved from other rescue groups.  I think these dogs would be the epitome of non adoptable dogs!  I am here to tell you some of those dogs attend events to help other abused animals by interacting with the community.  They are best friends with their new-found “forever” families and they kiss and love which is what every dog does best!  I am very happy to say all of these fighting dogs found amazing, loving and of course spoiled and fabulous lives at the animal sanctuary or with their new loving families!  Dogs are not natural killers.  Humans teach those behaviors and we also have the ability to show them love, rehabilitate and give them a second chance.  Rescue a pooch – so they can live a spoiled and fabulous life!

XOXO!
